Case Study

A Lightweight, Multilingual, Accessible Website for a Parkinson’s Advocate

Background

Natalie Muschamp is a well-known advocate for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Her previous website had been built with Elementor, and while it looked fine on the surface, she wasn’t happy with how bloated the setup had become underneath.

For the rebuild, she had two priorities that mattered more than anything else:

  • A website that would be genuinely easy for older people to use, given that a large part of her audience is likely to be older adults, some of whom may be living with Parkinson’s themselves
  • A lightweight WordPress foundation, built on GeneratePress with as few plugins as possible, moving away from the heavier Elementor setup entirely

She also wanted the site available in Dutch and German, in addition to English, to properly serve her international audience.

The Approach

Natalie selected the color scheme herself and approved the final design, which was intentionally kept simple and accessible rather than visually elaborate. Every decision was made with her specific audience in mind: clear navigation, straightforward layouts, and nothing that would get in the way of an older visitor, or someone managing symptoms of Parkinson’s, trying to find information easily.

The site was rebuilt on GeneratePress, deliberately avoiding the plugin-heavy, page-builder-driven approach of the old Elementor setup in favor of a lean, minimal-plugin foundation.

Result

The result was a fast, clean, and easy-to-manage website that aligned far better with Natalie’s goals and her audience than the previous Elementor build, simple and accessible for older visitors, lightweight under the hood, and available in English, Dutch, and German to properly reach her international audience.
